• Deep scratches, cuts, or bites on the outer polyurethane jacket (which compromise the fluid-tight seal).

• "Browning" or yellowing and hardening of the outer tube due to chemical degradation from high-level disinfectants.

• Buckling or wrinkling (kinking) along the shaft, which pinches internal components.

• Loss of torque transmission, where twisting the control handle no longer results in an immediate, crisp rotation of the distal tip.

• Repeated fluid invasion (leaking) that is traced back to microscopic porosity in the tube body.
