Inspection Results:

1. The image is dark, and the CCD is aged.

2. One branch of the light beam is disconnected.

3. The insertion tube is aged and wrinkled.

4. The lower angle is malfunctioning, the other angles are tight, and the snake bone is deformed.

5. The light guide tube is slightly wrinkled.

Can the outer sheath (insertion tube) be repaired if it becomes wrinkled or blistered from chemical disinfectants?

A: No, a blistered or wrinkled outer jacket cannot be localized-repaired. Chemical damage changes the structural integrity and flexibility of the insertion tube, which compromises patient safety. The scope requires a complete insertion tube replacement (re-tubing).

The video image is blurry and flickering when I articulate the scope. Can this be fixed without replacing the entire CCD?

A:For the blurring: If the image is permanently cloudy, it is usually internal humidity (fluid invasion) or a scratched objective lens. If it is just fluid, baking/drying the optics section might work, but if the lens is etched, it requires replacement.

• For the flickering: This points to intermittent wire breakage inside the video cable or insertion tube. While sometimes a loose connector at the scope plug can be re-soldered, a fractured wire bundle deeper in the tube usually requires a complete video cable rebuild or replacement.
