► Brief Description
The Olympus GIF-1TH190 is a specialized therapeutic gastroscope from the EVIS EXERA III series. The Bending Section Rubber is a critical component that protects the internal mechanisms while maintaining flexibility.
► Features
Fluid Tightness (Hermetic Seal): Its most critical job is to prevent water, gastric juices, and cleaning chemicals from entering the internal "neck" of the scope. If the rubber is breached, the internal wires and the CCD/CMOS image sensor will suffer "fluid invasion," leading to expensive repairs.
Structural Flexibility: It must expand and contract smoothly as the pull-wires move the bending vertebrae. It provides the "rebound" or tension necessary for the scope to return to a neutral position.
Patient Protection: The rubber provides a smooth, seamless cover over the metal "vertebrae" (the skeleton) of the bending section, preventing internal mechanical parts from pinching or traumatizing the patient's esophagus or stomach lining.
Dielectric Insulation: During electrosurgical procedures (like EMR or ESD), the rubber acts as an insulator, ensuring that high-frequency current does not leak from the scope to the patient's tissue in unintended areas.
